SHOWOFF OPEN CALL
Are you a beginner photographer and want to learn from the best? For the 13th time, the ShowOFF section is launching a competition for emerging visual artists who are just starting their careers! Become respected and well-known artist as Diana Lelonek, Lena Dobrowolska, Michał Łuczak, Łukasz Rusznica, or Zosia Promińska. We are waiting for your submissions until January 10, 2021 (11:59:59 p.m. CET).

The ShowOFF process begins with an open competition. Artists may submit up to two photography or film and video projects for consideration. The requirement is that these projects have never been presented, in any form, at any sort of cultural institution or event (museum, gallery, festival, etc.), including in group exhibitions. A jury made up of the 2021 edition’s curators: Silvia Pogoda, Bartosz Flak and Tomasz Lazar will carefully select the five projects to comprise the 2021 ShowOFF Section. In 2021, the ShowOFF exhibition format will be modified. Instead of a group exhibition (the format for the past seven years), each of the five winners will have their work featured as a solo exhibition during Krakow Photomonth 2021.

‘Artists who have made their debuts in the ShowOFF Section in recent years have appreciated the direction and expertise provided by the mentor-curators’ says Katarzyna Wieczorek, ShowOFF Section Coordinator. ‘Curators guided them through the process of creating an exhibition from start to finish: everything from selecting photographs, to choosing formats, paper, and frames, to the final arrangement of their work on walls and in vitrines and the crafting of accompanying exhibition texts.’

The Organizer shall cover the production costs of the presentation or renting the necessary equipment needed for presentation of the project, amounting to no more than 1600 PLN gross.

What is the submission deadline?
Deadline is January 10, 2021, 23:59:59 (UTC+1).
How can I submit?
Set up a profile on Picter.com. Search for ShowOFF Section 2021 and fill in the application form. You can submit up to 2 projects.
Can I submit a video project?
Yes! If you wish to enter a video, please upload the video on Vimeo, protect it with a password and paste the link and the password in the project description on Picter.
When will you announce the results?
Results will be announced on 27th January 2021 on our website www.photomonth.com and in social media.
Can I choose the curator that I will be cooperating with?
No, you can not choose the curator. Curators carefully select the most interesting projects in their opinion and on that base they choose artist to work with.
Does my submission/CV need to be submitted in english?
All curators speak Polish, so there is no need to submit the English version of your application/CV.
When the exhibitions of winning projects will take place?

Do I have to be an adult to submit?
No, but in that case You will need to send us permission from your legal guardian at showoff@photomonth.com.
