CHECK IN WHAT AREAS YOU CAN DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS

Volunteers supervise exhibitions at the appointed hours and places throughout the festival, as well as provide visitors with information about a given artist and their work. Volunteers in this section also help to ensure that the festival events such as workshops, openings and meetings proceed in a smooth way. If you are an art lover, would like to spend some peaceful time in the gallery or you wish to improve your communication skills – this field can be perfect for anyone!
Volunteers are responsible for distributing the festival’s promo materials – posters, booklets programs and postcards. If you don’t like staying in one place, know the city inside out or wish to know it a bit better sign up here! Distribution is a collective effort taking place before and during the festival.
Volunteers help set up exhibitions in May – around two weeks before the festival opening. If you are not afraid of physical effort and enjoy resolving various technical and manual issues, join this field! Patience and fine motor and manual skills are essential for the job. At times, you will also be needed to prepare the space for the installation team, which will require a good understanding not only of people but of things too. The work will continue throughout the festival and approximately a week after when the exhibitions are being uninstalled which would be at the end of June.
This area was initially dedicated to documenting volunteers’ work as well as the festival itself. We are looking for photographers and videographers willing to experiment visually and share the results of their work with us and the public as well as creating visual content in form of photo coverage and video materials. If you are interested in social media areas our #wolomfk Instagram is a place just for you. During the festival our volunteers run our Instagram, they also contribute materials to the official festival social media channels. We are looking for creative and determined people with a sense of aesthetics who want to work with specialists and, in cooperation with them, improve their workshop. You can also support the festival editorial staff, by translating, writing articles for a website or sending newsletters. You can train your reporting skills by writing notes or conducting interviews for our blog.
Final form of this department will depend on the epidemiological situation and duties will be adjusted to the prevailing conditions. It will then be important to involve a small group of volunteers to accompany the festival guests and artists, most likely during the events (panels, meetings, tours) during the opening weekend. This field is intended for punctual, agile and communicative people who would like to take advantage of the opportunity to get to know and have interesting conversations with curators, artists and journalists.
Final form of this department will depend on the epidemiological situation and duties will be adjusted to the prevailing conditions. Volunteers working in this area will then be responsible for issuing welcome packs for guests, providing information related to the festival and all events, and for the possible sale of festival publications and merch. It is an area for organized, independent and communicative people who fluently communicate in English. Most of the work will probably take place during the opening weekend, among a small selected team, which will require a sense of responsibility for the current affairs of the festival.

Final form of this department will depend on the epidemiological situation and duties will be adjusted to the prevailing conditions. Krakow Photo Fringe takes place parallel to the Photomonth and it is an initiative bringing together exhibitions of independent artists. Volunteers have a chance to learn about creating such an undertaking from scratch, working directly under the supervision of the Fringe team. The tasks will include assistance in the organization of events, support in social media, and above all, photographic documentation and creation of photo coverage during openings taking place throughout Krakow, combined with the distribution of KPF promotional materials.

We know how such collective work can be a huge opportunity for volunteers themselves, but also for us – the organizers. It is thanks to you that we learn and grow every year – each time different and new. None of the previous editions of the festival would have succeeded without the support and commitment of #wolomfk, who are an integral part of Krakow Photomonth and have a direct and real impact on the formula of our event. Volunteers are the ones who create the atmosphere and build not only an artistically engaged community, but also a fully inclusive and friendly safe space of #wolomfk.
For many years we have been continuing our mission of changing volunteering for the better. Our ambition is to deliver it to the highest possible standards of collaboration in which we do succeed, which has been proven by the Volunteer Friendly Organization certificate awarded to the Foundation for Visual Arts in 2015. For us, the certificate is both a reward for our efforts and a guide for our future activity. For more information about the certification go to: dobrywolontariat.pl/idea.
